C96B

The six-strong Irish squad, using the smallest panel of any nation in the top six besides North Korea, finished sixth.

Dublin lightweight Kellie Harrington, who boxes out of the St Mary’s BC, won a historic gold medal in New Delhi.

Ireland picked up 13 points at the 10th edition of the tournament which concluded last Saturday, according to the rankings.

The Irish panel also finished in sixth spot in the medals table in the Indian capital.

Ireland and Germany were the only two European nations to claim gold with Asia dominating after securing 8 of the 10 titles on offer.

Irish boxing has a flawless record in AIBA World Elite Women’s lightweight finals having won all six gold medal matches since 2006.

The total haul for Ireland since Tommy Corr won bronze in 1981 is 21 medals – 7 gold, 4 silver and 10 bronze.
