EUROPEAN YOUTH SQUAD CONFIRMED FOR SOFIA

 

The IABA has named a 19-strong squad for the 2019 European Men’s and Women’s Youth Championships in Bulgaria.

Boxing begins on September 4 in Sofia.

Four members of the 2019 panel – Dainna Moorehouse, Evelyn Igharo, Jude Gallagher and Dean Clancy – finished in podium positions at the 2018 European Youths in Roseto delgi Abruzzi, Italy.

Moorehouse claimed gold, Igharo and Clancy sliver and Gallagher bronze in Italy.

Moorehouse, pictured above on top of the podium at the 2018 European Youths, is no stranger to striking gold in Sofai as she topped the light-fly podium at the 2017 European Juniors.

The Enniskerry BC ace believes that Ireland’s has a very strong squad for the 2019 edition of the tournament.

“This is my last year being a youth and next year is a big step up, so I want to win my third gold medal, she said.

“The squad is a very strong team and I’m looking forward to going away with these guys.”

The Irish panel for Sofia all claimed National U/18 titles at the National Stadium last Saturday.
