Ireland are approaching 100 medals at  European Schoolboy Championship – 11 of which are gold – since the inaugural tournament in Rome in 2003.

Team Ireland added to the tally at the 14th edition of the tournament in Zagreb, Croatia this week.

David Joyce claimed our first gold in the Eternal City in 2003 and current WBA World pro champion Carl Frampton took home silver.

Four Irish Olympians – John Joe Joyce, David Oliver Joyce, Michael O’Reilly and Joe Ward – have medalled at this level over the last 13 years.

The Irish 2012 squad claimed the most silverware – 3 Gold, 1 Silver and 6 Bronze – from Anapa, Russia to command second spot in the medals table behind the host nation.

Two Irish boxers have won three Best Boxers Award at the European Schoolboys. John Joyce 2010/11 and Jordan Myers 2013.
