3 golds for Defence Forces team at CISM Tournament.

A Defence Forces team won 3 gold medals, and 2 bronze at a CISM Tournament in Warendorf, Germany.

The competition included the best Military Boxers from Ireland, France, Latvia, Netherlands, Germany and Slovenia, competing over four days.

Team Captain Tpr Tiffany O’ Reilly was victorious at 70kg after a hard fought victory over her German opponent. Tpr Brian Kennedy picked up gold at 92kg using his experience and superior fitness to overcome his French opponent.

Pte Luke Hensey struck gold at 57kg, he was the star performer for the team, recording 3 impressive victories at his first International Event. Pte Mark Fitzpatrick earned the “Best Fighter” award, the Cork native showed his toughness over 3 bouts and was a deserving winner.

Pte Ben McHugh and Pte Charlie Horgan showed glimpses of brilliance and they will now focus on the 2024 National U22 Championship, in July.

Sgt. John Molloy was acknowledged at the tournament for his considerable contribution to CISM Boxing.
