Two-time Irish Olympian Kieran Joyce will have a plaque erected in his name on the iconic Cork Boxing Wall.
Michael O’Brien, President of the Cork Board, said the ceremony will take place after the Covid-19 restrictions are lifted.
Boxing out of the Sunnyside BC, Joyce represented Ireland at two different limits at the 1984 and 1988 Olympics and claimed a bronze medal at the 1983 European Elites.
The Rebel County welter and light-middle out also won six successive National Elite titles in two different weights between 1983 and 1988.
The Boxing Wall is part of the official Cork tourist trail and contains the names of Leeside’s greats from yesteryear and today.
Joyce won the Cork Boxer of the Century Award at the Rebel County Centenary celebrations in 2014.
The Los Angeles 1984 and Seoul 1988 Olympian was trained by famed Sunnyside BC and Irish coach Albie Murphy (pictured).
