Paddy Barnes, appearing in his third successive Olympics, will be in action at approximately 3:45pm this afternoon (Irish time) at the Rio Olympics.

The Belfast light-fly meets Samuel Carmona of Spain for a place in the last-eight of the competition.

Rogen Ladon of the Philippines and Columbia’s Herney Martinez meet in the corresponding last 16 bout.

Steven Donnelly and David Oliver Joyce got Ireland off to an excellent start with two wins yesterday at the Pavilion 6 venue for boxing at the 31st Olympiad yesterday.
