BROADHURST UP NEXT AT WORLD ELITES

Amy Broadhurst

Dundalk’s Amy Broadhurst and German lightweight Maya Kleinhans will be in Ring A at approximately 11.30pm (Irish time) tomorrow morning at the World Elite Women’s Championships in Ulan-Ude, Siberia.

The 60kg three-rounder is for a place in the last 16.

Poland and Belarus trade leather in the corresponding bout immediately after the Broadhurst and Kleinhans contest.

Earlier today, Belfast’s No. 5 seed Michaela Walsh scored an emphatic victory over Mali feather Carmara Fatoumata to join Cavan flyweight Ceire Smith and Cork welter Christina Desmond in the last 16 and improve Ireland to 3 and 0 at the 67-nation tournament.

The European silver medallist and two-time Commonwealth finalist meets Ulan-Ude native Liudmila Vorontsova on Tuesday, while Smith is in against North Korea’s No. 1 seed Mi Choi Pang, also on Tuesday.

Desmond faces Canada’s Pam American finalist and No. 5 seed Myriam Da Silva on Wednesday.
