Amy Broadhurst and Aoife O’Rourke, pictured above, weighed-in this morning ahead of their European Elite semi-finals in Madrid.
The Dundalk lightweight and Roscommon middleweight meet Finland’s Mira Potkonen and Russia’s Anastasia Shamonova at approximately 2.30pm and 7pm today (Irish times) for places in Saturday’s finals.
Thursday was a rest day at the 31-nation tournament and the squad went to see some local matadors training after their training session in the Spanish capital yesterday.
“Amy and Aoife are ready to go and will be really up for today’s bouts,” said Irish team manager JP Kinsella this morning.
Both Irishwomen are guaranteed at least bronze in Madrid.
The Irish squad are due to arrive home via Dublin Airport this Sunday morning at 10.40am.
