Ireland’s lefties will battle it out for at least bronze with Russia in the quarter-finals of the European Women’s Elites in Madrid tomorrow.
Cork and Dundalk southpaws Christina Desmond and Amy Broadhurst meet Russian pair Anastasia Belokova and Darima Sandakova on Wednesday with podium finishes on the line in the welter and lightweight classes.
Desmond hammered out an emphatic unanimous decision over Dutch welter Leonie Anna Van Leeuwen this afternoon.
Broadhurst will be in the ring at approximately 3pm and Desmond at 4.30pm on Wednesday (Irish times apply).

Rosscommon middleweight Aoife O’Rourke is in action in the 75kg semi-final on Friday against Russia’s Anastasia Shamonova.
O’Rourke is guaranteed at least bronze by virtue of reaching the last four.
Thursday is a rest day at the 31-national tournament.
