Boxing begins on Friday week (September 6) at the National Stadium in Dublin.

 

Weigh-ins will be hosted at the six units this Sunday (September 1)

 

 

 

NATIONAL NOVICE CHAMPIONSHIPS 2019

 

13th August 2019

 

Venue: National Stadium, Dublin

 

Dates: 6th, 7th, 13th 14th, 20th & 21st September 2019

Initial Weigh-in and Medical: Sunday 1st September at 9.30am – 10.30am

in the following locations

Ulster Oakleaf Boxing Club, Derry

Antrim Dockers Boxing Club, Belfast

Leinster St Michaels, Athy

Dublin Ringside Club, National Stadium

Munster Fairgrove Hotel Mitchelstown

Connacht Dalton Inn, Claremorris

Daily Weigh-ins 8.00am -9.00am & 12.00pm -1.00pm each Friday

8.00am -9.00am each Saturday

 

Draw: Tuesday 3rd September at 12.00pm Results will be emailed to Club Secretaries and posted on website after Draw. Please do not call the office.

 

Boxing: Friday 6th September at 6.30pm in National Stadium

Saturday 7th September at 11.00am In National Stadium

Other dates contingent on entries.

Duration of Rounds: Men and Women 3X2 minute rounds using 12oz gloves.

 

Head Guards: All boxers will wear head guards. Hairnets/Swim caps MUST be worn under head guards.

 

Weight classes:

 

Male 48; 51; 54; 57; 60; 64; 67; 71; 75; 81; 85; 91; 91+ (13 weights)

Female 46; 48; 50; 52; 54; 57; 60; 63; 66; 70; 75; 80; 86 (13 weights)

 

Qualifying Criteria:

 

Year of Birth 1979-2002 Age 17-40 years for male and female.

First registered between 1st January 2018 and 31st August 2019.

 

Please note that the Championship Committee reserves the right to withdraw any boxer at any time during championship. This is in the interest of safety.

 

 

Entries:

 

Medical Record Cards and Entry fee of €20 must be produced at the initial weigh-in.

 

Entries should be forwarded to reach the undersigned not later than Thursday 29th August giving name, Date of Birth, weight and Club. Entries are subject to vetting.

It is a condition of entry that all competitors and officials have signed the Membership Acknowledgement Form.

Males must present themselves clean shaven and all boxers must advise the doctor of any medication they are taking or have taken in the preceding 4 weeks. Anti Doping may be carried out at any stage of the championships. It is imperative that all boxers adhere to the Anti-Doping Rules and Regulations- any queries regarding this matter please contact Mr Larry Morrison Anti-Doping Officer IABA on 0860292476

 

Please note that, under AIBA rules, boxers who are engaged in ‘ Other Physical Contact Sports ‘ are not eligible to compete .

 

Non-pregnancy declaration forms must be signed.

 

Boxers must have one red and one blue vest. Coaches must wear tracksuits and trainers at all sessions, and endeavour to set a high standard of hygiene; no caps will be permitted.

 

No Red, Orange or pink Gum shields.

 

Only qualified coaches are permitted in the corners.

 

Sportsmanship: all decisions must be accepted in a sporting manner. Complaints must be addressed to

the Chief Official Stephen Connolly. Please show respect to all Ringside Officials.
