Rio 2016 Olympian Steven Donnelly has his hand raised in victory in Krakow tonight

Steven Donnelly posted a convincing win to guarantee his Hussars of Poland side a first victory of the season in the World Series of Boxing in Poland tonight.

The Rio 2016 Olympian beat Maximiliano Ocampo of the Argentina Condors on a unanimous decision (50-44,50-45,50-45) over five rounds in Krakow.

The victory fired the Hussars into an unassailable 3-0 lead in the five bout match.

One judge leaned 10-8 in favour of the in-control ex Irish Elite champion, who qualified for Rio 2016 boxing for the Hussars last season in the welterweight class last season.

Irish coach Dmitry Dimitruk, who was working Donnelly’s corner this evening, was hailed the performance of the All Saints BC man in Krakow.

“Steven boxed very well over the five rounds and it was a very good win. Very happy with his performance tonight, “ he said.
