World Elite champion Michael Conlan has received a touching letter from a young Dublin boy.

The five-year-old offered the World No.1 his school gold medal as a consolation following Conlan’s highly controversial defeat to Russia’s Vladimir Nikitin in the 56kg quarter-final at Rio 2016.

Finn McManus told the World Elite champion:”I want you to have my school medal because you are a winner.”

“You are the best boxer in the world.”

Conlon responding via Twitter, said he has a gift for the boy.

“Very warming message from this young lad, if anyone knows who he is, could they please tell him I have a gift for him,” he tweeted.

Meanwhile,the International Boxing Association today confirmed that some refs and judges will no longer officiate at the Rio Games following Conlan’s last-eight bout with Nikitin.
