Two Team Ireland boxers will vie for European gold in the finals of the Men’s European Championships in Yerevan, Armenia today.
Its the second time in 11 days that Irish boxers have contested elite internationals finals. Amy Broadhurst and Lisa O’Rourke won 63kg ad 70kg World golds, respectively, at the Women’s World Championships in Istanbul, Turkey, on May 19th. They made history in doing so, becoming the first Irish boxing team-members to contest the fame finals.
Today, bantamweight, Dylan Eagleson of St. Paul’s Belfast and middleweight, Gabriel Dossen of Olympic BC Galway, contest their respective finals against Bilal Bennema of France and Lewis Richardson of England. The finals begins at 2pm, Irish time. Dylan’s final is bout No. 3, and Gabriel’s is bout No.9.
Both Team Ireland boxers have successfully weighed-in this morning.
