Guests at the Glen BC 100th birthday
Pat Ryan and Fergal Carruth, President and CEO of the Irish Athletic Boxing Association (IABA), were special guests of the Glen BC of Cork recently to celebrate the club’s Centenary – 1916/2016.
The occasion was celebrated in grand style at the Commons Inn on Leeside.
The President of the Cork County Boxing Board, Michael O’Brien, reflected on the outstanding achievements of the famed club over the last 100 years.
Pat Ryan hailed the Glen BC and its members and formerly announced that the IABA would honour the club at the end of the year.
Fergal Carruth recalled many tales from the past and spoke of the link between his brother, Olympic champion Michael, and Glen head coach Tom Kelleher, who was coach to many Irish international teams.
