Irish squad and staff in Italy tonight

 

 

Team Ireland finished in 5th place in the medals table at the European Youth Championships in Roseto degli Abruzzi, Italy.

Russia, Italy, England, Ukraine and Ireland, in that order, commanded the top five position at the tournamnet which concluded today.

Daina Moorehouse (Gold), Deabhla Rooney (Silver), Evelyn Igharo (Silver), Dean Clancy (Silver), Lauren Kelly (Bronze) and Jude Gallagher (Bronze) finished in podium positions.

Team Ireland has finished in top ten positions in the medals table in two European competitions in 2018.

In March/April, at the European U/22 Men’s and Women’s Championships in Romania,, Amy Broadhurst and Aoife Burke, on April 1, secured gold and silver to help Ireland finish 10th in the pecking order.

Likewise, Irish boxing has taken home two gold, four silver and two bronze from European competition this month alone.

Team Ireland are due home from Italy via Dublin Airport at 1.35pm tomorrow afternoon (Terminal 2).
