
The High Performance Unit has hosted its first HP Paris 2024 Pool Coach workshop series this weekend, with 15 pool coaches, nominated by their Provincial Units to become part of the programme, which will run up to the completion of the Paris Olympics

Throughout this weekend, at the High Performance Unit at Sport Institute Ireland, Abbotstown, Pool Coaches participated in three boxing skill sessions, led by Head Coach Zauri Antia. They also participated in sport science workshops, delivered by SII Head of Nutrition, Dr. Sharon Madigan, Boxing Physiologist, Paula Fitzpatrick, S&C with SII specialist, John Cleary, and Anti Doping , delivered by Sean Crowley, who has been an Anti Doping station master at two Olympic Games – Rio and Tokyo.
These High Performance workshops are designed to enable pool coaches to develop additional skill and knowledge bases. The programme is funded by Sport Ireland High Performance Coaching Unit through grant provision which will facilitate pool coach attendance at training until Paris – and is also supported by Sport Institute Ireland, home of the High Performance Unit.
