Ireland’s young guns recorded a hat-trick of wins on Day 1 of the European Junior Championships in Kaposvar, Hungary today.

Edward Donovan and Adam Dempsey recorded two wins on the trot and Pierce O’Leary took the early route to victory.

The Dublin Dockland’s BC ace forced Georgia’s Genuri Jgerenai into three standing counts in the first round and the bout was stopped.

“The team were outstanding today and we’re delighted with the hat-trick, said Irish coach Billy McClean,

“We have another big day ahead of us tomorrow. Three of our boys are in against Russian national champions and we know just how tough they can be. But for now were delighted with an excellent start.”

The draws are not yet available online.
