Glory days! Katie Taylor celebrates winning gold at London 2012.

The Irish Athletic Boxing Association (IABA) wish Katie Taylor the very best of luck in her professional career.

Katie met Allana Audley-Murphy in the first officially sanctioned IABA female bout at Dublin’s National Stadium on Halloween weekend in November, 2001.

Four years after that historic contest she claimed her first European title in Tonsberg, Norway, followed by her first World title in New Delhi, India twelve months later.

In total, Katie has won 18 Olympic, World, European Elite, European Games and European Union titles.

Her consistency against world class opposition over the last decade and more, has, by any standard, been phenomenal. She’s also maintained the ranking of World No.1 lightweight for ten years in a row.

Moreover, she’s been a magnificent ambassador for our sport both inside and outside the ring and has played a leading role in the evolution of women’s boxing worldwide.

The IABA are immensely proud of Katie Taylor’s remarkable achievements and are confident that she’ll be a success in the professional ranks.
