IRELAND PREPARE FOR BIG WEEKEND IN SOFIA

Team Ireland had a training session today ahead of a massive weekend for the side at the European Youth and Junior Women’s Championships in Sofia, Bulgaria today.

 

The squad trained and sparred with Turkey, Italy, France, Poland, Kosovo and Ukraine.

Five Irish boxers are in action in the business end of the tournament tomorrow, all looking to upgrade their medals.

 

Caitlin Fryers is aiming for the ultimate ungrade – from silver to gold – in the light fly Youth final versus Bulgaria’s Mari Todrova on Saturday.

 

Ciara Breen, Daina Moorehouse, Catherine Blaney and Aoibhe Carabine are in action in the Junior semi-finals. The Junior finals will be decided Sunday.

Ireland is guaranteed at least one silver and five bronze in Sofia.
