A five-strong Irish Elite squad fly out to Romania this morning ahead of the opening bell for the Nicolae Linca Memorial which begins in Iasi tomorrow.
World Elite silver medallists Kellie Harrington and Joe Ward, European Elite bronze medallist Christina Desmond, Carly McNaul and Kiril Afanseve will line out for Ireland in eastern Romania.
Competition is over the ten weights for men – 49kg, 52 kg, 56kg, 60kg, 64kg, 69kg, 75kg, 81kg, 91kg, 91+kg – and the three Olympic weights for women – 51kg, 60kg, 75kg
The Golden Belt multi-nations is named after Nicolae Linca who edged Irish boxing legend Fred Tied in the 1956 Olympic 67kg final in Melbourne.
