World boxing powerhouses Ireland and Kazahkstan met in a test match at the National Stadium in Dublin last night.
Both nations finished in joint 5th spot in the medals table at the London 2012 Olympics.
No scores are kept in test matches.
Ireland’s only boxer at the 2004 Olympics in Athens, Limerick southpaw “Irish” Andy Lee, the ex WBO World middleweight champion, and Belfast’s current Commonwealth and European super-fly champion, Jamie “The “Mexican” Conlan, were at ringside at the home of Irish boxing last night enjoying the action.
Ireland, Kazakhstan,Great Britain,Germany and India are taking part in a world-class IABA hosted training camp at the Intitute of Sport in Abbotstown, Dublin this week.
