The IABA is opening registration for an Optimising Performance for Training and Recovery workshop, as part of a suite of events launched to mark International Day of the Girl.
The workshop will be facilitated by Performance Nutritionist Stephen Floyd. Stephen has worked with a range of combat sports, and including Irish two-time Olympic bronze medallist, Paddy Barnes. He has also worked with Everton FC and the IFA.
The workshop will focus on the importance of optimizing performance and recovery for athletes, which can help ensure they perform optimally during competitions. Most athletes can get this wrong, especially boxers due to using extreme methods to make weight such as restricting food or fluid intake, this can have negative consequences on performance recovery and health. It has also been shown that most boxers don’t fully refuel and rehydrate on time for competition once they do weigh in.
The workshop will focus on key nutrition strategies athletes can implement throughout the year to make sure they are well fuelled going into each training session, recovering optimally and also ensuring they get their nutrition right between weigh-ins and competition.
Stephen’s presentation will last approximately 60 minutes, followed by a Q&A session via Chat function.
This workshop is for boxers and coaches aged 16 and over. Places are limited and you can register here: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/435620952997
