TEAM IRELAND LEAVE FOR INDIA

 

Ireland’s six-strong squad are en route to India today ahead of the opening bell form the 10th AIBA World Women’s Elite Championships.

Boxing begins on Thursday in New Delhi.

The squad – Ceire Smith, Michaela Walsh, Kellie Harrington, Amy Broadhurst, Grainne Walsh and Aoife O’Rourke – completed a 10-day training camp Greece, Great Britain, Sweden and USA at the German Olympic and Paralympic Sport Centre in Kienbaum, about 35km east of Berlin.

The competition venue for the tournament is the Indira Ghandi Stadium.

Meanwhile, Ulan Ude in eastern Siberia, subject to final confirmation, has been selected as the host city for the 2019 World Women’s Elite Championships next October.
