Jude Gallagher,pictured with Irish coaches Billy McClean, Mike Mongan and Michael Carruth, will be between the ropes at approximately 11.15am (Irish time) tomorrow morning in the semi-finals of the AIBA World Youth Championships in Budapest, Hungary.
The Tyrone light-fly and 2018 European Youth medallist meets Thailand’s Asian Youth medallist Thitisan Panmod looking to upgrade his guaranteed bronze to at least silver.
Kazakhstan’s and Puerto Rico’s Asian and Americas Youth champions Makhmud Sabyrkhan and Paul Jan Rivero go head-to-head in the corresponding semi-final.
The Irish Embassy in Budapest tweeted out its support for the Irish champion after he won his quarter-final.
“Well done Jude, fantastic result, winning Ireland’s first medal at this year’s World Junior Championships!”
Gallagher, the last Irish boxer remaining in the tournament, has won two bouts on unanimous decisions en route to the last four.
The finals will be decided on Thursday in the Hungarian capital.
