The Irish flyweight was beaten by Russia’s European Youth finalist Ekaterina Molchanova in the 51kg class.

Ireland recorded five victories in the semi-finals of the Tammer Elite multi-nations in Tampere, Finland this afternoon.

George Bates, Tony Browne, Michael Nevin, Kieran Molloy and Dean Gardiner upgraded their guaranteed bronze to at least silver after having their hands raised in victory at the 38th edition of the tournament.

The five will be back in action in Sunday’s finals at the 23-nation competition.

Ireland has recorded 12 wins from 15 bouts so far in Tampere.

Myles Casey and Wayne Kelly bowed out today. Kelly was edged on a 3-2 split after a fiery light-welter encounter with England’s Conor Loftus, while Kiril Asanasev was beaten on a 4-1 split by Croatia’s 2014 World Youth finalist Toni Filipi.

Ireland’s highly impressive start to the Tammer Elite multi-nations continued today with six wins on the bounce in Tampere, Finland.

Wayne Kelly, Tony Browne, Kiril Afanasev, George Bates, Michael Nevin and Dean Gardiner won to join Kieran’s Molloy, who won yesterday, and Myles Casey, who received a bye, in Saturday’s semi-finals.

Former European Youth champion Nevin beat Scotland’s current Commonwealth Youth champion John Doherty tonight on a split after the Aberdeen middle retired with a cut in the second.

The entire Irish squad will be in action in the last-four tomorrow at the 23-nation tournament.

Meantime, Finland Mira Potkonen, who beat Katie Taylor at the Rio Olympics, also won at the Tammer multi-nations today.
