ULSTER HIGH PERFORMANCE RESULTS FROM RUSSIA

Cavan BC light-heavy Thomas Maughan was edged out in today’s Youth International tournament in Russia.

The Irish champion was shaded by Russian ace Dmitry Makim over three rounds in Rostov, but won the praise of Irish coaches and team manager Peter Brady and Stephen Friel after a top class performance.

Maughan is part of a six-strong Ulster High Performance squad in Rostov.

Ulster, Russia, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan and a number of Russian provincial sides are competing at the tournament.

The Ulster team now await the results of Saturday’s semi-finals ahead of Sunday’s finals
