
Four Team Ireland boxers, including both Co-Captains, have won through to the finals of the European U22 Championships in today’s semi-finals.
In all, 7 Team Ireland boxers were between the ropes in the tournament, in Porec, Croatia, having already guaranteed themselves bronze medals
The women’s semi finals took place in today’s afternoon session. 54kg Niamh Fay, a former European Youth champ, put in an assured and confident performance against her opponent, England’s Grace Olivia Holmes and came away with a unanimous decision win.
Team Co-Captain, light middleweight Lisa O’Rourke was dominant throughout her bout with Israel’s Lia Pukkila and also claimed a unanimous decision win.
Welterweight, Kaci Rock, took on Stefanie Ger Berge of Germany, and came out the wrong side of a split decision. Kaci comes home having claimed a European U22 Championship bronze medal.
Middleweight and former European Youth gold medalist, Aoibhe Carabine, took on Barbara Marcinkowska of Poland in a bout which included a standing count in the first round for the Polish boxer. Aoibhe won that bout by unanimous decision.

The men’s semi finals took place in today’s evening session and first up for Team Ireland was bantamweight, Dylan Eagleson. He took on Samet Gumus of Turkey, and found himself on the wrong side of a split decision following a valiant performance.
Paul Loonam faced Ukrainian opposition in Maksym Vlasiuk, and also leaves the tournament following a split decision. Dylan and Paul both come home with bronze medals.
Heavyweight, Jack Marley, now a two time European U22 medalist, was dominant throughout his evening session bout against Turkey’s Emir Buyukdag.
The tournament is on a rest day on Monday. Lisa, Aoibhe and Niamh will box in the women’s semi finals on Tuesday, from 1pm, Irish Time.
Lisa O’Rourke will take on Daria Parada of Poland in Bout 5 of the Afternoon Session. Niamh Fay meets Sharon Prisco of Italy in Bout 2 of the Evening Session and Aoibhe Carabine takes on Ukrainian Karolina Makhno in But 5 of the Evening Session.
Jack contests the men’s finals, which take place from 1pm on Wednesday. He will face Roberto Lizzi of Italy in the last bout of the tournament, bout 8 on Wednesday’s evening session.
Finals on Tuesday and Wednesday will be live-streamed on the EUBC YouTube Channel, and links per ring and session will be issued on the day of boxing.

The Team Ireland squad is comprised of 18 boxers – 9 men and 9 women, and includes reigning 2022 IABA U22 Champions.
